Historic Mountain Estate

Property Description

Built for Judge Calvin Powers in 1806, this Sweden landmark sits on 87 acres with sweeping views of Mt. Washington and the western mountains. With short drives to N. Conway, Lovell (Kezar Lake), and Bridgton, this classic connected farmhouse could be your Bed & Breakfast, horse farm, or wholesale/ retail business. The main house and ‘ell’ offer 7 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, with a library, den, music room, dining room, and laundry. The 40’ open kitchen/family room captures all the outstanding views. Other features include wide pumpkin pine floors and large closets throughout. A 40’ breezeway connects the house to the 42 x 50 barn with a 50’ x 16’ insulated workshop finished in pine and wired 110/220 with excellent natural light and work lights. The open porches on the east and west ends of the house are perfectly situated for sunrise views and breathtaking sunsets. A riding ring was used to train horses for equestrian events in the 70’s, as was the 3 box stall pole barn w/loft, well, and wiring/light fixtures (not connected.) The riding ring is ready for new fencing, and the pole barn is ready to be restored and put in use again. There’s also a potential buildable lot north or west of the riding ring. Local activities as golf, skiing, fishing, hunting, and boating are just minutes away. Sweden students attend desirable Fryeburg Academy. This home is in admirable condition for its 225 years and shows it has been conscientiously maintained.
