Property Description

Historic Chanceford Hall is among Maryland’s “Top 100 Homes,” as listed on the National Historic Register. A Federal Era Mansion constructed in 1742, this 6 Bedroom, 7 Bath home showcases its historic details while featuring all the contemporary amenities of a new home. Chanceford Hall is located in the Historic town of Snow Hill, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, between the beaches of Ocean City, MD, and Chincoteague Island, VA. It is a short distance to Snow Hill’s shops, restaurants, bars, and parks. Just a few hours away from the metro areas of Richmond, Norfolk, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. The location is a perfect mix of small-town charm with convenient access to metropolitan cities. Currently, the home is both a private residence and an operating Bed and Breakfast, giving the buyer either option they would desire. All permits and all infrastructure are in place to operate as a business or choose to make it yours alone. The beautiful historical details abound, from the 10-foot tall ceilings on the 1st floor (9 feet on the 2nd floor), the ten fireplaces, the Federal style moldings, and the huge windows in every room. Every day is like an adventure in which you have turned back the pages in time. Beautiful gardens surround the home with a lap swimming pool in the backyard, a large terrace for entertaining, and a covered carport/entertaining area to keep things going even if the weather won’t cooperate. When the weather turns cold, sit in the Solarium just off the kitchen and watch the outdoors through the surrounding windows that give you a full view as you snuggle by the TV. New HVAC systems, as well as a furnace heat system, will keep you comfortable year-round. The large Gourmet Kitchen is a chef’s dream and perfect for entertaining. Each spacious bedroom on every floor has its own bathroom. Every guest you have will forever be telling stories of your amazing home to their friends years after they have come to stay. Because this home is so special, it has been included in several books of historic area homes (two excerpts can be found in the documents section of the listing). If this is the kind of life and home experience you dream of, come see Chanceford Hall before this opportunity is history.
