In the heart of Palmetto Bluff’s May River Forest enclave, stands 17 Dutch House Circle, perfectly framed by live oaks and magnolias. This stunning home has been totally reimagined and meticulously renovated at the hands of Gillian Nagle, the Coastal Director of Grand Living Homes. “Dutch,” as the home has been lovingly referred to during the renovation, is bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated. Gillian’s vision called for a complete overhaul of the home. There are glimpses of traditional bead board, butt board, and box beams one expects in the low country, but nothing feels heavy or forced. Light, bright neutrals abound: shades of whites, shiitake, and natural oaks- blend with stunning quartz and natural stones. The custom kitchen cabinets reach the 12-foot ceilings and flank an Italian plaster hood, which Gillian hand-troweled and burnished before applying several coats of beeswax. Honed Taj Mahal countertops continue down the apron front and up the backsplash, creating a warm and intimate kitchen. Double doors hide a hardworking pantry with floor-to-ceiling storage, a microwave drawer, and ample space for small appliances. There are special moments and interesting design details at every turn in Dutch House; even the HVAC vent covers were custom made. The level of careful consideration that Grand Living Homes puts into their projects is evident throughout.
